چکیده

The springback phenomenon that occur in thin metal sheets after forming is mainly a stress driven problem, and the magnitude is roughly proportional to the ratio between the magnitude of the residual stresses after forming and Young’s modulus. An accurate prediction of residual stresses puts, however, high demands on the material modeling. A phenomenological plasticity model is made up of several ingredients, such as a yield criterion, a plastic hardening curve, a hardening law, and a model for the degradation of elastic stiffness due to plastic straining. The authors have recently, Ref. [1], showed the importance of a correct modeling of a cyclic stress-strain behavior via a phenomenological hardening law, in order to obtain an accurate stress prediction. The main purposes of the present study are to study the influence of two other constitutive ingredients: The yield criterion and the material behavior during unloading. The material behavior during unloading is evaluated by loading/unloading/reloading tension tests, where the material is unloaded/reloaded at specific plastic strain levels. The slope of the unloading curve is measured and a relation between the “unloading modulus” and the plastic strains is established. In the current study, results for four different materials are accounted for. The springback of a simple U-bend is calculated for all the materials in the rolling-, transverseand diagonal directions. From the results of these simulations, some conclusions regarding constitutive modeling for springback simulations are drawn.

Effect of Constitutive Equations on Prediction Accuracy for Springback in Cold Stamping of TRIP1180

The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of constitutive equations on the prediction accuracy for springback in cold stamping with various deformation modes. In this study, two types of yield functions—Hill’48 and Yld2000-2d—were considered to describe yield behavior. Isotropic and kinematic hardening models based on the Yoshida–Uemori model were also adopted to describe hardening ...

Springback Modeling in L-bending Process Using Continuum Damage Mechanics Concept

Springback is one of the most common and important issues in metal forming area. Due to the fact that springback depends on a variety of parameters, it is hard to predict. Hence, in this paper, the effect of continuum damage mechanics (CDM) on springback was investigated based on the Lemaitre isotropic unified damage law. Swift’s hardening law was employed to describe isotropic hardening behavi...

U-Bending Analysis with an Emphasis on Influence of Hardening Models

In this paper the effect of different hardening models in simulating the U-bending process for AA5754-O and DP-Steel, taking a benchmark of NUMISHEET 93 2-D draw bending, has been discussed. The hardening models considered in simulations are: isotropic hardening, pure (linear) kinematic hardening and combined (nonlinear kinematic) hardening. The influence of hardening models on predicting sprin...

Numerical and Experimental Investigations on Springback of U-bending of DP600 Steel Alloy Sheet

The most prominent feature of sheet material forming process is an elastic recovery phenomenon during unloading which leads to springback and side wall curl. Therefore evaluation of springback and side wall curl is mandatory for production of precise products. In this paper, the effects of some parameters such as friction coefficient, sheet thickness, yield strength of sheet and blank-holder fo...
